In this case report, we present a patient with primary amyloid myelopathy who presented featuring an unusual clinical presentation.
The subject's initial symptoms included severe weakness in the upper extremities, along accompanied by frequency and urgency of urination. Analysis of cerebrospinal fluid revealed elevated protein levels suggesting amyloid deposits. Neuroimaging studies demonstrated characteristic lesions in the spinal cord consistent with primary amyloid myelopathy.
The management focused on supportive care, including physical therapy and medications to manage symptoms. Nevertheless treatment, the patient's condition continued to worsen. This case underscores the importance of considering primary amyloid myelopathy in the differential diagnosis of patients presenting with progressive neurological symptoms, particularly those with unilateral weakness.
An Uncommon Presentation of Crohn's Disease: A Case Report
We describe a rare case of Crohn's disease in a 28-year-old female presenting with novel symptoms. The patient initially presented manifestations of fatigue, which were initially attributed a common gastrointestinaldisorder. Further investigation revealed colitis. The patient received standard treatment for Crohn's disease, including steroids. The prognosis to treatment was favorable.
This case illustrates the significance of a detailed history in patients with suspected Crohn's disease, as its symptoms can be varied.
Findings
A male/female patient presented to the clinic with a chief complaint/history of symptoms/presenting concern of progressive shortness of breath, cough/dyspnea/respiratory distress. The patient reported a gradual/sudden/insidious onset of symptoms/complaints/manifestations, worsening over the past few months/year/decade. On physical examination, auscultation/palpation/inspection revealed decreased breath sounds in the lower/upper/bilateral lung fields.
Further/Additional/Supplementary investigations included a chest X-ray which demonstrated diffuse/patchy/interstitial opacities consistent with pulmonary fibrosis. A high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) scan of the chest confirmed the diagnosis, revealing honeycombing/fibrotic bands/reticular opacities.
The patient underwent further tests/evaluation/assessments to rule out other potential causes/contributing factors/underlying conditions of pulmonary fibrosis.
